I own a rifle and I fully support the right to own a firearm. I also introduced sensible gun legislation to substantially reduce gun violence, which would allow law enforcement to remove a weapon from a dangerous individual. Such laws have been enacted in many states and are supported by much of the law enforcement community. We are the only industrialized country in the world that fails to legislate to protect our citizens from mass shootings, and gun related suicide and homicide, despite the facts that an overwhelming number of citizens, organizations, and much of law enforcement support sensible gun safety legislation. This must end before we experience a mass shooting in a Montana school, university or on the streets.
